Why Everyone Should be Using our Newest Feature: WebDAV

4 Jun 2013 | Under WebDAV | Posted by | 0 Comments

Earlier we posted about a new feature that is available to everyone called WebDAV. It may seem a bit confusing at first as to what it is or why you need it, but it is incredibly easy to set up and it will simply make your life easier.

Some programs, when trying to save or open a new file, won’t recognize the virtual drive created by OpenDrive. This is where WebDAV comes in.

You can have this set up in 3 easy steps and be on your way. Let’s get started!

These instructions are for Windows Vista/7/8

First, open up Windows Explorer (or click on Computer in the start menu)

Next, click on Map a Network Drive, at the top

On the next screen, enter https://webdav.opendrive.com into the Folder path, as seen in the screenshot below. Select a drive letter (whatever is available).

For the tick boxes, it really comes down to personal preference. I have both of mine un-checked.

Once everything is set, simply click Finish, and you are done!

Now a new drive will show up in “Computer” with the Drive Letter that you chose.  See how easy that was? When our developers first told me about this idea, I thought maybe it would be a little too complicated, but boy was I wrong. Once I did it myself I was so excited about it I just had to let everyone know. In my opinion, everyone should be taking advantage of WebDAV because it is so easy to use!

Until next time, happy syncing!
