Hello. I have a website in which I have had a playlist that hotlinked to and streamed files from my free account at OpenDrive. The playlist players have required that the music be hotlinked. Previously I have used Playlist.com, and it had worked fine. However, either yesterday or a couple days ago, Playlist.com suddenly declared my playlist empty. I tried to recreate the playlist by once again hosting the URLs to the music on my OpenDrive account, but Playlist.com did not accept any of the URLs anymore.
I deleted my OpenDrive account and created a new one. I re-uploaded new music to my account and attempted to add the new music's URLs to Playlist.com. Playlist would not accept any of the URLs. They were in proper format; Playlist.com apparently will not stream from OpenDrive.
I created an account at MixPod.com. I now prefer MixPod, if it would work properly. I added the URLs to MixPod, and it accepted them at first. However, when I tried to play the music, MixPod malfunctioned-- it skips over every song except for just a few. Notably, however, MixPod did properly stream a couple of those songs, and continues to stream them at the time of this writing.
I really need OpenDrive to hotlink and stream music to my website; it is why I created an account here. I really like OpenDrive, and I have no intentions of leaving. I have a mind to upgrade from the free version sometime. However, without the hotlink streaming, my account has no purpose. Could somebody please help me figure out what is wrong with my hotlinking?
Thank you.

Recently we’ve changed our plans and direct linking is available only for Home, Office or Pro plan.
You can find more information about our plans here:

Wow , that was sudden . I can't see how I could trust this site ever again . Did I miss a communication somewhere along the way ? Perhaps it was too good to be true and now you have shown yourself to be "Untrue" . It isn't like there weren't problems in the past but a policy change of this magnitude might have warranted at least a warning to your membership. Ah , the bait and switch game again ... too bad , too bad .

We apologize for sudden change of our strategy.
Only thing that actually has changed is disabled hotlinking for free accounts.
We are open to allow users hotlink files even for free accounts, but so far it turned against us.
Free account users were spreading illegal content or viruses, including viruses which were attacking our servers by hundreds of thousands downloads of same file from multiple IPs.One option is to limit number of downloads per file per day for free accounts.
Any other ideas? Please, let us know.Posted 6 months ago # -
Not all free account users were posting illegal material. The spreading of viruses certainly must have been from certain users that you well might have been aware of by monitoring . You might have been more selective in your blunt change of policy . People like "Sonic Reboot" and myself have tried to work within your system only to be cast aside in the heap with your porno experts . Truthfully, I have no idea about the complexities of running a web site like this but I personally have had too many experiences with "Bait and Switch" techniques and contracts that mean very little in music publishing . It isn't like I expected the Internet to have much truth but I took you at your word time after time only to come to this point where it would be foolish to continue. One sometimes must flow around inescapable problems and adapt, like water. This is my offering as an "Idea" toward resolution .
Good luck to you and yours,

Our strategy is create open platform for file hosting a file management.
We have to admit, disable hotlinking was out of our strategy and after deeper analyzes we realized, there is much more we can do on our side. Therefore, hotlinking for free accounts is enabled, but there might be some user verification requirements in the future in order to protect our services.

Thank you . I hope you will resolve the challenge soon. I am glad that I didn't delete my files from Opendrive. I did take them off all of my play list which were affecting my web sites. I tested one a few minutes ago and found that Playlist.com accepted the link but the player won't play it and reports the link as broken . I checked and saw that the links are all the same as they were before. Will I have to change all the names again ? I hope that there won't be a blood test required..haha. Hey , what ever you want , I am with you if you get those links going again . Please advise me as to what I should do . Is your idea of a "User verification" that you mentioned above, for instance, what is not enabling the link that was once valid or is it Playlist.com that is not accepting your links anymore? It worked in my Windows Media Player but not on "Playlist". Here is the link I tested :

Hotlinking should works same way as before. There is no action needed on user's side.
We tested your link from multiple IPs and computers and after click on link, music file started to stream and play.
Do you have different result? In regards to verification, we meant email verification, IP through annonymous proxy and so on.

After few tests with Playlist.com, we experienced same problem with your song or link - link is broken.
I'm not quite sure, how Playlist.com works, but when I copied your song to another account and got new link, then song in Playlist was working.Posted 6 months ago # -
"What light through yonder window breaks..?" I was able to rename a file and re-link it to Playlist.com with positive results . I also up loaded a new file and it did work . The old files will not work unless the names are changed to protect the innocent . There is a light at the end of the tunnel ,or through yonder window , so to speak .
All the Best ,
